Homestay Business Owners Welcome the Opening of Tourism Activities in Thousand Islands

The reopening of tourism activities in Thousand Islands during Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level 2 was welcomed with joy by tourism business owners, including homestay owners.

I am very grateful because this homestay business is my only source of income

One of homestay owners on Jalan Pantai Selatan RT 01/01, Tidung Island Urban Village, Maria admitted that she was happy with the reopening of tourism activities in the region after being closed due to increasing COVID-19 cases.

"Of course, I am happy. I am very grateful because this homestay business is my only source of income," she conveyed, Monday (11/1).

She hopes COVID-19 cases in Indonesia can be controlled and continue to decline. Thus all activities can return to normal.

"It is still limited up to 25 percent visitors. Hopefully it could be zero cases of COVID-19 in Jakarta thus tourism sector can be opened 100 percent," she mentioned.

She explained that her homestay has 12 rooms with affordable rental prices for tourists.

"Since the opening of tourism activities, there were six tourists who stayed at my homestay on last Saturday and Sunday. But I am still grateful and hope the pandemic will end soon and economic will return to normal," she said.

In implementing health protocols, her side has put up poster at the entrance to remind tourists to always comply with health protocols by always wearing mask and routinely washing their hands with soap or using hand sanitizer.

"I also ask them to show their vaccination certification, although they have been asked by officers at departure dock and Tidung Island Pier to show proof that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 through PeduliLindungi application," she stated.
